Bhutan also known as “Land of Dragons” is one of the best destinations in Asia for Mountain Biking. It’s a natural mountain biking country with the kind of landscape, villages, valleys and mountain passes you come across. Some patches of the road are made for off road biking where even the bigger vehicles will find it tough to mark their way. Mountain biking is a growing sport and also today there are many cyclists coming to Bhutan for cycling tours from across the world.
The topography of Bhutan makes it more exciting for the Mountain biking cyclists to explore this country. The Western, Central and Eastern region are not very cycle friendly and that is why it gets exciting for cyclists to explore these areas. Bike Tours lead to well paved paths and also gravel paths and jungle trails. The adrenaline rush that one gets when you go up and down these passes is lifetime experience for cyclists. You cycle to Thimpu, Paro, Punakaha, Haa, Chele La Pass, Dochula Pass, etc. Bhutan is surrounded by natural beauty and charming age old Bhutanese architecture.
Bhutan also is the host to the World’s Longest Single Day MTB race which is also known as “Tour of Dragon“. The single day race is of 255kms covering 4 mountain passes before finishing at Thimpu. It is considered to be the toughest one day MTB race in the world. It is extremely challenging and also can be known as ultra marathon MTB race.
Our rider Rakesh Rana is the only Indian cyclist to have come among top 10 in this race which gets cyclists coming from all across the world. Rakesh 9th (2016) and 6th (2017) in this extreme race.
